Nigel Foster completed the first kayak circumnavigation of Iceland with Geoff Hunter in 1977. In 1981 he paddled solo from Baffin Island to Labrador in a Vyneck kayak of his own design - the trip nearly killed him. Foster went on to become one of the most influential British sea kayak instructors and authors, with multiple books on technique and expedition planning.
