About ExpeditionKayak.com

ExpeditionKayak was originally built by Dominic Miles at Shout Websites in Devon for Sean Morley's solo circumnavigation of the UK and Ireland in 2004. Daily updates from Sean's progress around the British Isles were emailed in and published on the site as he paddled clockwise from Falmouth.

Twenty years on, the site has grown into a wider editorial home for the global sea kayak expedition tradition. The chronology preserves the history. The resources distil practical lessons. The blog covers contemporary trips, kayaker profiles, and the history of the sport.

Who runs it

Dominic Miles (Shout Websites, Devon) operates the site. Editorial is in collaboration with paddlers worldwide who contribute trips, photos and corrections. Sean Morley remains a friend and the original purpose of the site - documenting his work was the reason any of this exists.

How we pay for it

The site is supported by display advertising on content pages, plus occasional affiliate links to gear we genuinely recommend (kayaks, drysuits, satellite messengers). Editorial recommendations are independent. Sponsorships, where they exist, are clearly labelled. We never charge to publish expeditions.

The community

We also have a small Facebook group for expedition kayakers - search for ExpeditionKayak on Facebook to find it. Sean Morley's ongoing paddles continue at riverandocean.com. Paul Caffyn's site is paulcaffyn.co.nz.
