ExpeditionKayak was originally built by Dominic Miles at Shout Websites in Devon, UK, for Sean Morley's 2004 UK circumnavigation. It's now an open editorial site documenting expedition kayaking worldwide.

Sea kayaking covers day trips, club paddles, courses and instruction. Expedition sea kayaking is the subset focused on multi-day self-sufficient journeys, typically over distances measured in hundreds or thousands of miles.
