Lonnie Dupre and John Hoelscher became the first to circumnavigate Greenland between 1997 and 2001. Their 6,500+ mile journey combined 3,442 miles of dogsled travel with 3,075 miles of kayaking - a route that simply could not be completed by kayak alone given the ice conditions of much of Greenland's coast.
