Peter Bray's first attempt at a west-to-east Atlantic kayak crossing in 2000 ended in disaster - 32 hours in 36-degree seas, rescued by Coast Guard, four months learning to walk again. His second attempt, on 22 June 2001 from St. Johns, Newfoundland in a kayak designed by Rob Feloy and built by Kirton Kayaks, succeeded. 76 continuous days at sea. Made land at Beldereg, Ireland on 3 September 2001. The first west-to-east Atlantic kayak crossing.
